Summary: We had a great two weeks at the house. All rooms were larger than expected, and the photos well-represented the property. Well-equipped kitchen. TVs in living room and both bedrooms. Beds were quite comfortable. Ample parking and close to freeways. It is on a busy street, but the bedrooms were at the back of the house, so we were rarely aware of traffic noise at night. Appliances were older, but everthing worked well. I had failed to note that there was no AC, but there are many fans, and the place cooled down nicely at night by opening only the bedroom windows and placing a box fan in the dining room window on exhaust to pull the cool air into the house through the open windows. Decor was a bit dated--it felt a bit like visiting grandma's house, so it had its own kind of charm. If you're looking for a fashionable designer experience, you will be disappointed, but if you're looking for a roomy, comfortable, "homey" rental at a surprisingly reasonable price, this is the place. Only about 30 minutes to Black's Beach, which was our primary destination. About 40 minutes to Balboa Park and central San Diego, avoiding rush hour. Several grocery stores were very close. The only improvement I would suggest is sprucing up the back yard a bit, so that having breakfast at the outside table would be a bit more pleasant. We would definitely consider renting the house again on our annual summer visit to southern California.
