Fair Winds is a charming beach house completed in the spring of 2012 and located in the Piney Island section of the old fishing town of Chincoteague Island, Virginia. It is a quick bike ride to the bridge to Assateague with boat ramp water access just down the street. Assateague Island is a national wildlife refuge run by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The pristine beach (4.0 miles from the house) is managed by the US Park Service. Fair Winds has three bedrooms plus a den (the "loft room") and two full baths. The upstairs master has a king-sized bed; a queen is in the front bedroom downstairs, twins are in the downstairs “turtle room” and the upstairs loft room. The loft room is ok for a couple of kids. It is open to the great room below, but there are doors that can close it off I’mfor sleeping. The heart of Fair Winds is the sunny great room with wood-burning fireplace. It includes living and dining areas as well as the kitchen with island and barstools. Kitchen amenities include electric range with glass cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and an excellent supply of cookware and utensils. On the street side is a partially covered deck, and in the back, a screened porch overlooks the woods. In the hall of the main floor, there is a laundry closet with full sized washer and dryer. There is a TV and a DVD player in the loft room. The house has a land line for local calls as well as wireless internet access. Below the house is the carport, shed, an outdoor shower for removing the worst of the sand from the beach, and a clothes line. You will also find a small charcoal burning Weber grill. Please bring sheets and towels (don't forget beach towels!), because I do not provide linen service. Please, no smoking and no pets. Fair Winds will be cleaned and ready for your stay.
