‘Scultura House’ is an architectural beauty nestled in the historic mission hills neighborhood, 4b3b 3,352 SFt. Walking distance from Old town and downtown mission hills, 10 min drive to downtown/airport, and 15 min from surf & beaches.
You’ll love the authentic Mid-Century modern feel, chef's kitchen, pool, sunken living room, meditation room, pillow pit loft, Sonos sound system, and multiple private workspaces making this home ideal for remote work and play.
I share this space with my fiance and our pet Shiba Inu dog, and we kindly request you treat it well. Please make yourself at home and take advantage of the fully equipped kitchen, read a book from the library, grill something up on the BBQ, and enjoy the pool/beach kit that we've provided.
Scultura House was built in 1974 by renowned local SD architect Konrad Leak in the iconic Mid-Century modern style. You will enter through the front gate into the fenced private courtyard. On the ground floor, you'll find the chef's kitchen, office/bedroom with a couch and two optional single roll-away cots, full bathroom with bathtub, living room, wet bar, and meditation room. Outside you will find the deck, pool, and BBQ setup to enjoy the perfect San Diego weather.
Up the stairs, there is a catwalk that leads to the guest room with a unique reading loft and a full ensuite bathroom. This guest bedroom has a king bed, and the pillow pit loft up the ladder could sleep an additional 2-4 people or as many as 8 can cozy up and watch a movie. Next, the catwalk leads to another living area with a couch and media station with a 75-inch TV & soundbar for ideal movie watching.
To enter the master suite, you first walk through a unique bathroom with dual sink vanity with a window facing the courtyard behind the mirrors. There you will find the commercial Maytag washer/dryer behind a folding door. The master bedroom has a king bed and is the only room in the house with air conditioning. The master bath has a walk-in shower and a luxurious soaking tub.
Finally, the most interesting room in the house can be found by going up the step ladder outside of the master bedroom. This takes you to a sky room with a rooftop patio with ocean & city skyline views. This room has a double bed as well as a standing desk with dual displays for the ideal remote work setup. I highly suggest watching the sunset over the bay or the SeaWorld fireworks from the sky room most summer nights. NOTE! - Movement-impaired people will find it difficult to get up and down from this room, so please be aware.
Guest access
You will have private access to the yard, pool, and entire home, except for the garage. You will have private access to the driveway to park up to 2 cars.
You may use the kitchen, BBQ, and all other amenities in the home. You are even welcome to borrow a book from the library, but please return it before leaving :)
Other things to note
Please note:
- Only one room in the house that has air conditioning, and that is the master bedroom with a mini-split. You can control it with a remote in the room. There is central heating and a fan for the rest of the house.
- there is a whole house high-powered fan in the ceiling of the master bedroom entrance. If you turn it on it will provide excellent airflow and cool the entire house. You can find the on the switch in the master bedroom, as well as another downstairs outside the meditation room.
- The double bed & desk in the 3rd-floor sky room requires walking up a retractable step ladder, which will be difficult for movement-impaired people.
- to fit 10 people, 8 of them would sleep in the 4 beds and the rest could sleep on the 3 couches or in the pillow pit loft in the guest room. The living room is bright in the morning, but there are eye masks provided if necessary :)
