Welcome to the Freedom Cottage! We hope you will have a wonderful relaxing stay. Available as a rental since 2017, numerous reviews available on other rental site.

Guest access will be provided via a keycode which will be emailed prior to arrival, spare key hanging inside.
Guests will have access to the entire house and grounds (front and rear yard, stretching down to the beach/water).
I won't be there for check-in/out but guests are encouraged to call/text during their stay if any questions arise..
The space;
Long range water views and amazing sunsets! Please come and enjoy relaxing by the water with a shady back yard and outdoor dining. Find some local Maryland crabs and enjoy a crab-feast on the back porch! Fully renovated in 2015, this is a very comfortable space to relax and unwind.
Spacious master bedroom shares the main level with a nicely appointed kitchen and open floor plan to the living room. Step out to the enclosed back porch for a dining table to enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets. A marble bathtub/shower, private commode and double vanity sink are attached to master or accessible from common space. Small work space nook rounds out first floor.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds.
Outside there another dining table and chairs for enjoying a meal on the back patio as well as a small fire pit and chairs. Shaded backyard and beautiful sunsets, watch out for falling pine cones (they are great for the fire pit).
There is a beach and swimming in the Potomac River. The river is 4 miles wide at this location so a very expansive body of water with low boat traffic.
We are re-building our beach after the seawall and jetties were destroyed by winter storms in 2022. The seawall and jetties have been rebuilt in June/July 2023 so the beach should start to come back at the property. Alternatively you can walk down the street to the 100 or so yards of community beach, it is just at the end of our block, a 2-3 mins walk.
Guest access
Parking out front for up to 2 cars, guests will access the entire home, back yard and beach.
Note, all beach is technically neighborhood access so you may see neighbors walking along the shore periodically. The beach is reduced to only a few feet during high tide.
We have a small dock, DO NOT JUMP OFF THE DOCK. The river and tides move debris around the floor of the river and the depth is only ~2 feet under the dock. Please do not go on any of the other docks, those are all privately owned.
There is also one adult and two small kayaks for your use, at your own risk. There are life jackets available that must be used with the kayaks, you can of course also bring your own or purchase one in town if you want to use the kayaks.
Other things to note
Linens and towels are provided in the house but please bring your own beach supplies! House towels should not be used for outdoor activities.
The house is on a well so some guests may want to bring/buy drinking water (grocery store 10 mins away). We have a water filtration system but some people are still sensitive to well water.
PLEASE NOTE: The home has central a/c but please remember this was built as a beach cottage, it will not get below 75 degrees inside on very hot days. Keep doors and windows shut to help the system keep up. There are additional window units upstairs to help at night. There are also ceiling fans in all rooms (watch your head upstairs!)
Please keep clothes and furniture away from the air vents at all times.
