Summary: Every single bit of metal in the room was rusty. There was no metal left untouched by the rust gods. The room reeked like bleach every time we walked in, even after leaving the window open. Even with the obscenely strong bleach smell, the bed sheets were either stained or dirty. The AC didn’t work but we were only there to sleep for one night & it wasn’t crazy hot, so while it wasn’t horrible for us personally, I could see how it would get bad.
There was also sharp staples sticking out of the bedside table and a nail sticking out of the ground (which, yes, were both rusty too) which wasn’t exactly fun to figure out.
Also, not a big deal but it doesn’t happen often; the housekeeper still knocked at 9:30am even though we had our “do not disturb” sign on the door & check out wasn’t until 11am.
Overall probably wouldn’t stay here again, but in a pinch with nowhere else available, it was okay.

Summary: The room looked clean, but don't wear our shoes indoors, and our feet were black from walking on the floor in our room. The toilet didn't flush; the fill valve was broken. There was no water pressure, and the hot water was non-existent. The towels were old rags. The door would not open easily. I was helped when I asked for help, but this was a lot of things that were neglected, and you still charge these rates. Additionally, people were talking loudly in the carport area all night.

Summary: Our room was not cleaned in the two nights we were there. I requested personally for it to be cleaned and no one came. The location was great! Lots of shops and restaurants local to walk to.
The hotel itself was pretty bare. Not exactly what was advertised.

Summary: It is an older motel that really could use an update. The elevator was interesting - maybe historical? The great place about this motel while while visiting San Francisco was it location & staff. We were near the Presidio, which was where we wanted to be rather than downtown. It was ideal for being in an area loaded with restaurants. The staff was great for making s few recommendations.
Overall I would definetyly book again.

Summary: I stay at the Surf motel many a visit to SF. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean with some updates like laminate floors.
It is well situated near the Embarcadero waterfront in SF. Great location and some good food nearby. It is helpful to be able to park in their parking lot with a parking tag as a guest.

Summary: Okay for the overall value, but we will not be staying there again. There was mold in the bathroom, hairs left in the bathroom from the last guests and it was clear the sheets were not changed. We only had one night there, so we dealt with it, but don't recommend staying here
