The Space: YOUR BED: Your bed is a twin-size upper bunk bed (single person-use only). It is located in the BEACH HOUSE (see below). Your bed comes equipped with a small, hanging nightstand for your basic items and electronics, and also includes a 3-outlet power strip with a USB charger for your phone or tablet. You have dedicated spaces for storing your food, clothing, luggage and bathroom items during your stay. LIVING ROOM/DINING ROOM: Cozy and quaint, this connected area is a multi-purpose space near the front door designed for working or relaxing comfortably. The living room is a place to recharge, with a large TV & couch. You’ll notice the large wall signage to your left when you arrive, with all the essential information you’ll need for your stay. The dining area has been reimagined as a work/live space, with convenient folding wall desks and chairs that make it easy to focus, and a futon great for relaxing, preparing for your next trip, or napping. WORLD ROOM: Charming with its bold, unique Afro-Persian decor, The World Room is a shared common living space. Spacious, warm & vibrant, the World Room offers a great place for travelers to meet, laugh and exchange freely, while offering plenty of space for privacy if you need it. BEACH HOUSE: Rejuvenating with its calming, sun-lit, ocean side decor, The Beach House is a shared common living space, located within a private suite. Your bed is in this room. Elegant, simple and even more spacious than the World Room, the Beach House has its own bathroom, its own large refrigerator, its own linen closet, 2 personal closets, 3 desk stations (for eating or work), lots of open space and tons of sunlight. Relaxing with a perfect view of our Zen-inspired backyard, the Beach House feels like a home with a home. In addition to a great night’s sleep, the Beach House adds a additional layer of privacy and calm. All Beach House guests have dedicated spaces for storing food, clothing, luggage and bathroom items. BACKYARD: Enjoy our Zen-inspired backyard at your leisure. It features a small vegetable garden, a wonderful apricot tree, a fire pit, and several benches for sunbathing and relaxing. Guest Access: You will have access to: * The living room/dining room * The kitchen (no-access areas are labeled) * The World Room * The Beach House * The Backyard Interaction with Guests: I have a very busy schedule, and my son will likely be the person to help you throughout your stay. We both live onsite, and are available for questions to help as needed. Our home is designed for independence and comfort. My son is a certified holistic health coach, and we love to attract visitors who are passionate about self-development and healthy living. You’ll have all the tools you need to manage your own check-in before you arrive, and with signage and friendly guests available to help you’ll be able to find anything you need when it. The Neighborhood: GENERAL: We're near central Sacramento, 8-10 minutes from Midtown/Downtown, the new Golden 1 Arena, UC Davis Medical Center and Children's Hospital. There is a grocery store, bank and drug store nearby, with Starbucks and several restaurants, including a vegan diner, all within walking distance. OAK PARK: We are located is one Sacramento’s most historic, culturally diverse, and vibrant neighborhoods. More than any other area, it captures the essence of Sacramento’s ‘farm-to-fork’ cultural identity. The neighborhood has experienced amazing transformation within the past 5 years. 1 block away is the historic Colonial Theatre, and within 1 mile is Oak Park’s artist district, with several local galleries, bookstores and a nearby farmer’s market there as well. 12TH AVE: We live in a friendly, working class street. Our neighbors are diverse and friendly folks. Getting Around: DRIVING: We are located 5 mins away from 2 major freeways: Interstate 80 and Highway 50. We are also near Stockton Blvd, which is a main thoroughfare across South Sacramento. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The local bus system is called RT Transit. They offer bus & light rail service across the city and have stops located very near our home. Bus: 51 line is 1.5 blocks from our house (Stockton Blvd) Lightrail: 39th Street Lightrail Station is 1 mile away. Other Things to Note: Our home and neighborhood are relatively quiet and relaxed. About 1 block up the street is an Elks Lodge bar (for military veterans) that has a karaoke night once a week, usually after 9-10pm. At times, people attending the bar may park on our street, which can make parking difficult. They also play the music kind of loud - not loud enough to keep one from sleeping but loud enough to notice from half a block away. It’s once a week and has not caused an issue for anyone before, but I like to be forthcoming about it.
